The Wonderful World of Smartphone Apps

I know I've been raving about the fun I've been having with my smartphone camera. But I am having even more fun with the photo-editing apps that come with all kinds of filters and gadgets to turn photos into works of art. Here's a modified photo I edited in Paper Artist by JFDP Labs. Then I pulled it into Instagram and added the Dream filter. There are endless possibilities and combinations using multiple apps! Let creativity explode!

The French Quarter-A Photographer's Candy Store

Bourbon Street-French Quarter-New Orleans
We recently visited New Orleans to celebrate a friend's birthday. We stayed in a historic house on Esplanade Avenue right on the border of Tremme. I'm sure I don't have anything new to add to the wonder and experience of the French Quarter. The history, the rich culture, the color, the energy. It was all there and we were there in the middle of November. What I did learn, unfortunately, was even though I am in love with my new Samsung Galaxy and it really does have a great camera built in, I really, really wish I had taken my Nikon with me. Phone cameras are great and convenient but they still don't match a DSLR. So next time, and believe me there will be a next time, I pack the Nikon.

Sweet Sofia

My sweet Sofia. She joined our family about a year ago and is a delight. Another new addition in my life is my new Samsung Galaxy smartphone with a kick ass camera. I have also been introduced to Instagram through a class I am taking at Big Picture Classes. Life is good.
