Addiction

I am trying to understand a loved one's opiate addiction. After many dark years he has willingly checked himself into a rehab program. He has lost everything. No job. No car. No place to live. I know he's in the best place he can be right now to turn his life around.

We have been attending the family education sessions and have learned the three C's.
I didn't cause it.
I can't cure it.
I can't control it.

But I can art it.

Light Glow

Light glow
Buttery warm glow
spills into the empty room.

I am alone.
Watching.
Waiting.
Tick tock
the crystal clock
hungrily swallows the night.
